An innovative hydrophilic microsphere powder, Granpowder QSC (INCI: Polymethylsilsesquioxane/silica crosspolymer) offers new formulating possibilities with water-based formulations, according to Grant Industries. Structurally, Granpowder QSC is comprised of a silicone resin powder surface bonded with silica. While designed for the aqueous phase of formulations, Granpowder QSC has the unique ability to absorb both water and oil. This dual compatibility has been shown to improve the stability of O/W and W/O emulsions by the Pickering effect and thus preventing coalescence. Performance benefits include excellent slip and sensory aesthetics, soft focus effect, and strong detackifying properties associated with glycols and/or rheology modifiers.
